Water Restoration: A step by step guide process

Water Restoration: A step by step guide process

In the event of water damage in your home, the first thing you should do to access the situation is to call a water damage restoration company. The first 48 hours of any kind of water damage to your home is when most of the damage to your home will occur. The longer the water sits, the bigger the mess it will create and the more extensive the cost to repair your home will be.

Surprisingly, mold will start growing immediately after spores are attached to an item. Mold can easily grow within 24 to 48 hours, and will begin to colonize in 1 to 12 days. If this has happened in your home, in order to stop the spread of mold spores and potential health risks contact Roswell’s preferred Water Restoration company

After you have called a water restoration company, when they arrive, they will proceed with the following four steps:

1. Assessing the extent of the water damage – this will consist of a walk through of the damaged area. Bordering and surrounding areas to the affected area will also be thoroughly inspected. The tricky part about water damage is that it can spread very rapidly into neighboring regions and areas and go unnoticed unless a trained water expert investigates. There are hidden areas such as crawl spaces and air vents that they will also investigate, these areas are sometimes forgotten about by just the average Joe however never forgotten by our special water restoration crew

 2. The water damage restoration company will then begin to remove the standing and stagnant water. This process includes water extraction pumps and water vacuums that suck up the water. The water removal is often one of the most significant and most stressful piece of the job. It’s a race against the clock, the longer the water sits, the more damage it is doing to the structure of your home and the possibility of mold forming and growing rapidly

3. After all of the water has been removed, the next phase can begin. Drying the space out completely and getting the humidity from all that standing water out. Through the application of large fans, air scrubbers, and dehumidifiers the area will begin drying and getting aired out. The huge fans and dehumidifiers will circulate the air and expedite the drying and dehumidifying processes.

4. The final step is when our water restoration crew begins the actual restoration process. This process consists of removing the damaged furniture and assets, carpets, drywall and sheetrock along with any other building materials that are waterlogged. This step is also the key for a successful restoration job. It will show that the water damage restoration company was able to restore the space to its pre-water damage condition.
